Laura Elizabeth Sheerin was a young artist with Opera Northern Ireland in 2012-13.
Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Performance in 2009 and finished
Master of solo performance with distinction in 2011, both from the Royal Northern
College of Music. Laura was the recipient of Yamaha Vocal Scholarship 2009/10
and a scholarship trust 2010/11 Headley and she also received the Award of the platform for young musicians Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the BBC for 2013-15.
Laura major roles in the RNCM include: Micaela (Carmen), Vespina (L'infedeltà
delusa). In excerpts of opera, Laura has performed the roles of Manon (Manon), Suzel
(L'amico Fritz), Anne Trulove (The Rake's Progress).
On the stage of the opera Laura has performed the role of Geraldine (A Hand of Bridge), Dido
(Dido and Aeneas), Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel) NI Opera, cover Venus (Orpheus in
Netherworld) Scottish Opera and Opera NI, Susan (A dinner of participation) Wexford
Opera Festival. Laura has also released (World) the role of Zerlina (woman X - Benjamin) at the Festival Grimeborn and Marie (Le pastel d'anniversaire - Benjamin) Radio with music.
On the concert platform, highlights include performances with the Ulster Orchestra
and BBC Radio, Quercus Ensemble in the City of London Festival and San Juan Smith
Square, Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah and Bach's St. John Passion with the Chiswick
Chorus and orchestra, Strauss Four Last Songs with the symphony orchestra of Sheffield,
Monteverdi Vespers Mass and Gounod's St Cecilia in San Gauderic Music Festival
Mirepoix. Laura is studying with world renowned soprano Nelly Mircioiu,
mentor young artists in Jette Parker YAP at the Royal Opera House.
