Doctorate in Music from the University of Cincinnati in the United States. David Rodriguez De La Peña was initially formed at the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, where he obtained his piano studies under the supervision of the teacher Rosa Maria Delsordo. Subsequently, by a grant from the Ministry of Education, he earned his master's and doctorate in piano performance and composition at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where he studied piano with Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff teachers, composition with Allen Sapp and orchestration with Samuel Adler.

During his stay in the United States, he served as professor at the same university and later in Northern Kentucky. He has played in the most important rooms in the City of Mexico and the rest of the country as well as in the United States (New York, Washinton DC, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Lexington, San Antonio, El Paso, San Diego, Los Angeles, Ames Iowa, Fort Worth, New Jersey), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Aranjuez) and France (Paris, Rennes). He has participated in numerous recordings with groups such as the Philharmonic Orchestra Cincinnati and Baja California (including Latin Grammy nominated recording, "Tango Mata Danzón") and Musical director and arranger of the recording project "Dream Baroque". As a composer and pianist, in January 2013, David Rodriguez launched his CD: Piano and Multi-disciplinarity: The Divas with music for piano and piano and voice, with soprano Alexandrina Vazquez.

On the other hand, De la Peña Rodriguez has directed music shows and has composed incidental music for ballet, theater and film.
His musical compositions and arrangements have been performed by orchestras such as the Chamber Orchestra of Fine Arts, Ensemble Baroque at the University of Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra of Turkey, Orchestra of San Bernardino (California), Symphony Orchestra of the National Conservatory of Music and Orchestra Baja California.

Since 2008, David Rodriguez is registered in the register of evaluators in the area of ​​music both Inter Evaluation Committees for Higher Education (CIEES) and the Council for the Accreditation of Higher Eduación of Arts, AC ( CAESA).

David Rodriguez has performed on numerous occasions as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Cincinnati, Baja California Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Coahuila, Symphony Orchestra of the National Conservatory Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of Baja California and Orchestra of the Center of Musical Studies Autonomous University of Baja California, and is also collaborator with the municipality of Toluca, State of Mexico, for the formation of the newly founded Toluca Philharmonic Orchestra.
His recent engagements include solo performances in New Jersey, Houston (USA) and Vienna (Austria) and the recording of their original heritage for symphony orchestra, plus the composition of the music of two documentaries.

He was pianist soloist with the Orchestra of Baja California and Tijuana Conservatory Director (1999-2005), founder and coordinator of Music Arts Centre State Institute of Culture of Baja California in Mexicali (2005-2007) Deputy Director of the Faculty of Arts Campus Cove Autonomous University of Baja California (2007-2012), where he also founded the Symphony Orchestra of the same university in 2011.

From September 2012, David Rodriguez De La Peña is appointed Director of the National Conservatory of Music of the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City.
