Benito Rodriguez is an Lyric Tenor born in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He decided to dedicate himself to singing after finishing his studies in Industrial Engineering. In 2009, he began his musical career in the Jose Cuervo Foundation choir at the Pueblo Magico Tequila, continuing his studies in the Opera Artescenica program in 2011. In 2011 Benito debuted in New York City in, ‘Revealing the Opera’. In the same year he won the Plácido Domingo Scholarship and was selected to take part in the prestigious Opera Studio, SIVAM (International Society of Mexican Art Values).
In 2011 Benito debuted the role of ‘Rodolfo’ in La Boheme at the City Theatre in Mexico City. He has performed in numerous different parts of the world, such as United States of America, Canada, Israel, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, France and Austria.
Benito had the great honour to perform the role of Mario Ruopolo in the opera Il Postino in its New York Premiere, to excellent critical acclaim.
Benito has participated in world renowned competitions, such as the Canadian Vocal Arts Competition and the New Jersey State Opera Contest, being awarded first place in both.
Benito’s repertoire includes: Norma, L'amico Fritz, Carmen, Il Postino, , L'elisir D'amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Faust, Romeo et Juliette, Werther, Die Zauberflöte, La Bohème (Leoncavallo), La Bohème (Puccini), Le Villi, Madame Butterfly, Gianni Schicchi, Don Carlo, Ernani, La Traviata, Verdi Requiem among others.
This year he will perform ‘The Italian Singer’ in Der Rosenkavalier at the Glyndebourne Festival in the United Kingdom, ‘Gastone’ in la Traviata with Washington Opera, Metropolitan Opera House with ‘Tybalt’ in Romeo et Juliette amongst others.
